What To Expect

Cape Town Central
On leaving Cape Town we will take you to a variety of wine farms that have been specifically chosen for their excellence. The itinerary allows you to experience a variety of different styles of wine at different locations. The morning consists of visiting Fairview wine estate where you will do a cheese and wine paring which sets the standard for the rest of the day. We then head to the towns of Franschhoek and Stellenbosch where we will experience more exceptional wine at some wonderful locations. Lunch is enjoyed as a picnic along the route. The afternoon takes us further into the winelands with more memorable wine estates to sample.

Fairview Wine and Cheese
Fairview was founded in 1693 and today it is a working farm with its main focus being the production of fine wine and cheese. On arriving at Fairview you will experience a wine and cheese paring which includes a selection of their finest wines and cheese.

Franschhoek
The historical town of Franschhoek was founded in 1688 when the French Huguenots settled in the valley. Bringing with them there wine making expertise helped to kick started the wine industry at the Cape Colony. Your guide will explain the history of the region to you in detail on the day before sampling some more exceptional wines in the region.

Boschendal
Boschendal dates back to 1685 and therefore has a rich heritage of wine making. Sitting under the old oak tree you will enjoy a selection of great wines in the form of a wine and chocolate paring. The setting is fantastic and you will see some exceptional Cape Dutch architecture.

Stellenbosch
The town was founded in 1679 by the first Governor of the Cape Colony, Simon van der Stel and is the second oldest town in South Africa after Cape Town. In 1690 some of the French Huguenots settled in Stellenbosch, grapes were planted in the fertile valleys around Stellenbosch and soon it became the centre of the South African wine industry. While in Stellenbosch a quick stop at Oom Samie Se Winkel is a must.

Neethlingshof Estate
Neethlingshof Estate has a long and rich tradition of wine making in Stellenbosch. The Estate occupies an incredibly privileged site with ideal natural conditions, soils, slopes, altitudes and climate to produce a variety of great wines. All the grapes for the Neethlingshof wines are grown on the estate and all the wine is made, matured and bottled in the cellars of the estate. At Neethlingshof you will be treated to a cellar tour with wine tasting of 5 different wines from there exquisite range of award winning varietals.

Spier Wine Farm
Our final tasting for the day is at the famous Spier Wine Estate where we will sample three of their more popular wines which will be in the Tasting Room and home to a Heath Nash chandelier made from 334 recycled Spier wine bottles, or on the shady stoep with gorgeous mountain and dam views.

After an exhilarating day in the Cape Winelands we return to the Mother City in the early evening where we will drop you at your hotel or Guest house.
