What To Expect

Franschhoek
Upon arrival at Franschhoek, you will proceed to the Franschhoek terminal where be given your tram ticket with a brief explanation of how it's going to work, you will then go to the tram train. In the tram, you will choose if you want to sit below deck or upper deck, once all seated you will receive a complimentary glass of wine and your tram guide will explain where you will stop, and for how long, and brief background information about the Winelands of Franschhoek.

Grand Provence Estate
The first wine estate. You will hoop off the tram and get into the tractor that will transport you to the wine estate of Grand Provance. Arriving at this magnificent picturesque wine estate, you will proceed to the tasting room. "Grand Provance estate offers award-winning wine at the winery, gourmet cuisine at the restaurant, and creative talent at the gallery" you will be given a wine pairing menu to choose from. There are various activities like wine-tasting, wine-blending tours, cellar tours (24 hours prior), wine & nougat pairing, oyster & MCC pairing, restaurant and deli, Art gallery, and many more.

After Grand Provance, you will be leaving for your second winery Rickety Bridge. you will be transported back with a tractor to the wine tram, then head to the Rickety Bridge entrance where you will hoop off the tram and get to the mini-bus.

Rickety Bridge Winery
Upon arrival, you will be amazed by the beauty of the small bridge and the backdrop of rugged mountains, a nice welcoming picture square. Here you can visit the wine cellar (24 hrs notice) and tasting room where you can experience tasting their renowned wines, or you can sit on the veranda and enjoy a meal while admiring the splendor of the magnificent surroundings. After you are done, you will then proceed to the third wine estate, the Franschhoek Cellar estate.

Franschhoek Cellar
Franschhoek Cellar is a beautiful asset to the Franschhoek wine route that combines the charms of leisurely country life with the elegance of a world-class venue. here you will hoop off the wine tram and get directly inside, there is a restaurant with a magnificent wine farm view on your right-hand side, you will choose if you want to sit outside or inside, the view breathtakes the same. Straight ahead is the tasting ahead is the wine-tasting room with a kids' play area, kids can also have the opportunity of tasting grape juices paired with kiddies' snacks. Here "enjoy a wine tasting paired with Belgian chocolate or handmade cheese. Dine on alfreso-style lunches in the fabulous garden or sip an artisanal beer at the fabulous beer garden." After you are done, you will go back to the Tram, head back to Franschhoek terminal where you will hoop off the tram, and get into a minibus to Atlas Swift Wine Estate.

Beautiful Elegant white and black wine estate with the pure architecture of a wine farm, in this wine estate you will drive past the wine farm to the tasting room, the view and the feel are so farmy. Here you will "be guided by an internationally trained sommelier for fun facts or serious wine talk, pair the wine with local cheese and charcuterie platter" - Atlas Swift website. Cellar you should be pre-booked. When done you will head back to the bus for the continuation of your Winelands experience.

Mont Rochelle
"Situated on the slopes of the beautiful Franschhoek mountains, this win farm was established by Jarques de Villiers, one of the original Huguenots that came to the valley in 1688." Mont Rochelle. Located in the wine-tasting facility, the country kitchen offers relaxed dining, with a focus on local, sustainable, and fresh produce. Taste the world-renowned, award-winning wines with a pairing of cheese and fruits. Enjoy whilst overlooking the beautiful slopes and mountains, this wine estate is a delicacy at its best. Cellar tours and picnics and pre-booked.
