Discover some of South Africa’s best wines, from award-winning estates, along this alternate wine route favoured by locals. You’ll travel through the majestic hills of the Northern Suburbs, a mere 30 minute drive from Cape Town’s CBD, to visit four wine estates, each offering a unique approach to wine making. It’s not just about the wine tasting though – revel in the opportunity to soak in the stunning views of the area with a couple of the farms offering fantastic sights of the Mother City with her Table Mountain backdrop in the distance. Indulge in an optional lunch either at the contemporary and stylish, Cassia, or the health-conscious café-style Tables, both on the Nitida Wine Estate. The day ends with you taking home a crystal glass, a memoir, of this incredible day.

Cape Town – Durbanville – Cape Town

After pickup from your Cape Town accommodation, you’ll travel in a comfortable minivan for approximately 30 mins to your first stop of the day – Meerendal Wine Estate. Indulge in the Prestige tasting of six wines as you look out over the Durbanville valley below.

Diemersdal

A short 10 minutes later you’ll arrive at Diemersdal Wine Estate. Take some time to wander the grounds and take pictures of the surrounds and Table Mountain, which can be seen standing proud in the distance. Sitting either outside (weather permitting) or in the tasting cellar, you’ll have the opportunity to taste 6 of the estate’s divine wines.

Leaving Diemersdal, you’ll wind your way through the Durbanville valley for roughly 20 mins to Nitida. This small wine farm is one of the youngest in the area, having only been started 25 years ago. That being said, they have truly made a name for themselves; producing award-winning wines and offering a warm welcome to all those who visit. Opt to either enjoy lunch at Cassia restaurant or at Tables Deli (own expense) before doing a full tasting, which comprises of 9 to 12 wines.
