Table Mountain, an internationally recognised icon, is one of the oldest mountains in the world having begun life some 260 million years ago, and was recently voted one of the Seven New Wonders of the Natural World. Rising 1080 metres (3500feet) above the city of Cape Town, the oldest in South Africa, visitors are afforded magnificent views across the entire peninsula and the city below.
Access to the summit is a 10 minute ride in modern revolving cablecars, and it's no wonder The Mountain attracts thousand of both international and local visitors each year.
The mountain was originally named Hoerikwaggo (Mountain of the Sea) by the Khoisan and later Taboa do Cabo (Table of the Cape) by Antonio de Saldahna in 1503.
Table Mountain itself forms part of the Table Mountain National Park stretching all the way to Cape Point, one of our other tours, which is home to the richest floral kingdom in the world.
